discontinuing to issue "user" vhosts
« on: March 10, 2018, 12:08:07 PM »
Dear users,

We are working hard to make a safer and more comfortable place for you to chat, and you have probably noticed we have recently been implementing some new security strategies. As part of these efforts, we will be discontinuing to issue "user" vhosts for registered chatters. What this will mean for you is that if you already have a vhost, you will keep it, BUT anyone who gets banned either in a network channel or from the network itself (channel ban, g-line or z-line), and "jumps" the ban, may have their "user" vhost removed.

This will also apply to anyone who has a "custom" vhost.

Thank you for your understanding and have a great stay!

Chris on behalf of the ICQ-Chat Oper Team

NOTE: a "user vhost" is the part of your nickname/account info that looks like - removing this does NOT reveal your real ip, it just reverts back to the normal masked ip we use here.
